To send a contact you need to:
go on to text message and in the box where you put your message there is a little paper clip in the bottom right hand corner. You can also send through email aswell and you do the same as you did with the message.
For iPhone's you have to go to the contact to share it. You press on the contact, press share contact and then it should forward it to the text box and there you put there name of the contact you want to send it to.
